The Challenge
Despite the growing awareness of mental health, many people still struggle to process their emotions or negative thoughts due to the lack of accessible, stigma-free tools. Most existing platforms are either too clinical or overly generalized. The goal was a solution that: - Provides guided self-reflection without overwhelming users - Encourages consistency without pressure - Feels like a safe, private space to "debug" one’s mind
The Solution
Debug Your Mind is a mobile application aimed at improving mental health by helping users recognize, record, and resolve negative thoughts. Built to provide structured self-reflection, the app uses journaling prompts, thought analysis, and emotional tracking to help users take control of their cognitive patterns.
- Log intrusive thoughts in real time
- Categorize thinking errors (e.g., catastrophizing, overgeneralization)
- Reframe thoughts through guided prompts
- Track emotional trends over time
- Earn badges as they build healthy thought habits
This approach gamifies mental wellness and empowers users to see progress in their mental clarity.
User Testing & Feedback
The first testing phase involved a small user group, including mental health advocates, students, and working professionals. The app was distributed via the Play Store link: 👉 Debug Your Mind - Play Store
Key Feedback:
- ✅ Users appreciated the structured prompts and clarity.
- ✅ Emotional tracking graphs were visually helpful.
- ⚠️ Users requested a daily reminder feature.
- ⚠️ Some wanted anonymous community discussions.
Based on this feedback, I'm planning to implement a daily reminder feature and explore the feasibility of adding anonymous community discussions in future updates.
